The Pima County Elections Department is staffed up and ready to start processing ballots Tuesday, thanks to a Sunday plea for help from the recorder’s office.

An email went out to Pima County Recorder’s Office volunteers shortly before 2 p.m. yesterday, saying that the Elections Department was in need of ballot processing help starting Tuesday and encouraging those who had not yet been assigned a task or were looking for additional work to reach out.

By Monday morning, the department was in good shape, with spokesman Jeremy George saying that they’d received a “ton of responses” from the recorder’s email.

Nearly 20 early voting sites are open today until 3 p.m. for ballots to be dropped off, and tomorrow, 126 Vote Centers will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Find locations on the county’s interactive map.

Voters can cast their ballot at a location of their choice by showing an acceptable ID. Poll workers will print a ballot specific to the precinct in which each voter lives.

As of Saturday, 359,371 Pima County ballots had been returned, representing a voter turnout rate of 54.5%, according to Uplift Campaigns.
